Indies Face Distribution Problems

Many indie music makers have distribution deals with major-label-owned companies to get their music to local stores all over.  And many find loyal followings through these channels instead of the current streaming trend where they often get lost amongst the more promoted groups.  However, now, even that distribution method may be in danger.

A company by the name of Direct Shot Distribution currently handles distribution for a number of the major record labels out there.  And it has become a bottleneck affecting nearly 10% of the entire music industries with failed, incomplete, or wrong orders and deliveries becoming the norm.  Some indie labels are breaking their distribution dependence on larger companies to go to indie distributors as well.

Some have started to theorize that major labels are actively promoting it to kill off the physical music business so all that is left are their prominent and profitable streaming sources.
