Miyaki aka Michael Whitefield hails from Bear Creek, a historical residence of Irving where the community was built by freed slaves and was one of the oldest “African-American” sovereign communities in Texas. Starting his music career in 2005, Miyaki released his first mixtape called “Gudmorning welcome to the World” in 2011 and also two other projects followed that same year one self titled after the band Champagne School and New Money 2 UGK Posse/ UGK Records edition by artist Big Bub. Miyaki aka Michael Whitefield hails from Bear Creek, a historical residence of Irving where the community was built by freed slaves and was one of the first “African-American” sovereign communities. Miyaki’s music is meant to inspire, teach and lead people to honor the past, remember their history and to be a reminder to embrace your personal uniqueness. Bear Creek instilled in Miyaki values that he has carried with him throughout his career, especially the lessons he learned from the older generation that surrounded him his whole life. Miyaki had many artists that helped inspire his sound such as Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, UGK, Devin the dude, Kurt Cobain, 2pac, Gill Scott Heron, Biggie Smalls, Saul Williams, Gospel, Michael Jackson, Nas, Eminem, Jay- Z, and DJ Screw and the screw Family.

Inspired by a plethora of artists Miyaki has infused many different variations of music to create a unique sound that distinguishes itself from other artists. Bringing the soul to music and spreading peace, love and knowledge has always been one of the main goals for Miyaki and the message in his musical poems. Separating himself with a unorthodox artistry and unique  delivery , word play and sound that Miyaki prides himself on. He found passion in rhyming because it allowed him to express emotions, problems and frustrations that could have otherwise consumed his mind. Miyaki created a voice based from his struggles, experience, pain, doubt and blessings along the road in this cold world, and he is prepared to share a message of peace, love, truth, freedom and justice, longevity, wealth and health.
